November 15th, 2024, Zurich, Switzerland.
Fundacion Escuela Nueva (FEN) received the Klaus J. Jacobs Best Practice Prize, a prestigious recognition granted every two years by the Jacobs Jacobs Foundation from Switzerland to honor nonprofit organizations, companies, and social enterprises that have achieved outstanding results through innovative and evidence-based solutions to enhance child development and learning.
Imagine Worldwide, operating in Sub-Saharan Africa, and Laboratório de Educação (LABEDU) in Brazil are the other two organizations honored. The awardees were selected through a rigorous evaluation process based on criteria such as impact, effectiveness, sustainability, and the strength of evidence drawn from high-quality research methods. After a thorough review, the jury shortlisted 10 finalists and, from those, chose the three awardee organizations.
“We are humbled and thrilled with this remarkable recognition! Receiving this prize renews our commitment towards effectiveness and equity in education and gives us hope for greater things to come for many children,” said Vicky Colbert, Executive Director of FEN.
The Klaus J. Jacobs Best Practice Prize highlights our commitment to quality education. It reaffirms our efforts to promote rigorous research and evaluation of ENA’s impact, particularly in improving learning outcomes for students and teachers. Furthermore, it is a testament to the positive effects of our work on the lives of thousands of children and young people through a new educational paradigm based on cooperative, personalized, and participatory learning.
The award was presented on November 15th during a ceremony in Zurich, Switzerland, where awardees and finalists participated in a co-creation event to exchange knowledge and ideas on advancing learning. They also had the opportunity to collaborate on developing proposals for new educational projects.
